This is an incredibly special moment that I’d love to share with you all. It’s been almost 7 years since I began travelling and this year, I finally reached my goal of every continent before 30
After spending a few days in Antarctica visiting several islands (including camping on one) the day in this video was the moment I officially stepped on to the Antarctic peninsula and my 7th continent.
It was extraordinary – bluebird skies and wispy white clouds, whales breaching in the bay, penguins hiking alongside me and the most incredible views over the harbour. It could not have been more perfect and exactly as I had dreamed.
Travel has changed my life in so many ways. It has changed ME. I wouldn’t be a tenth of the person I am today without the experiences and lessons learned since I left on that first journey back in the fall of 2010. And what I’ve discovered is that what you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.
To travel, self-discovery and the world – cheers!
I love travelling and have always dreamed of travelling more. This year as I have been contemplating my next destination I came up with the idea of wanting to visit all 7 continents. The phrase “7 continents in 7 years” popped into my head as a personal goal. Suspecting this probably wasn’t some sort of original idea or personal epiphany, I figured I would Google it and found your article. I’m 46 and will be into my 50’s before I complete my journey, so it won’t be as early in my life as you completed yours, I do hope that the experience can still change and shape me in ways I can’t imagine.
Hi Wade, thanks for commenting! I LOVE that you want to visit all 7 continents in 7 years – and great timing with travel opening up again. The best part of travel is it’s an incredible experience no matter what age you are and I know you’ll have some of the most amazing experiences of your life as you complete your goal. I wish you all the best and happy travels. If you ever need any advice, please don’t hesitate to reach out! 🙂
