The northern lights happen to be one of my favourite natural phenomenon. I’m quite lucky to be able to see them frequently in my home of Saskatchewan, Canada.
As an avid aurora hunter I like to go out with friends, sometimes until sunrise, just to watch them dance across the sky. I also happen to be part of the Saskatchewan Aurora Hunter’s Facebook page, a group of enthusiastic Saskatchewanians passionate about capturing beautiful northern lights photos. Reaching out to them, I asked if they would be willing to share their photos on my blog.
*A big thank you to everyone who submitted photos to be considered. There were dozens of submissions and it was difficult to narrow the selection to only 30!
Here are 30 of the best northern lights photos taken by talented photographers from all around Saskatchewan.

Just amazing. Do you know some good spots around the Glenfell area?
Thanks
Anywhere you can get away from town lights (preferably north) is a good place to start. Half the fun I find is driving around looking for unique and beautiful places to shoot photos or just enjoy the Northern Lights 🙂
You should really check out photos by Craig Hilts of Prairie Fire Photography. http://www.prairiefirephoto.com some really gorgeous shots.
Thanks Lisa! I’m familiar with his work – he has some great storm photos!
Amazing pics!
Thanks Chris 🙂
What an incredible collection of Sadkatcgewan beauty!! Great to see my good friend Tracy Miller’s photo was one of your top Aurora picks!!
Aren’t they just gorgeous? We definitely have some very talented photographers in the province here!
Oh my goodness these are amazing! I should put Saskatchewan on my list, then! 😀
You really should Sarah! There are so many incredible (and hidden gem) locations to visit here! People always skip us to head West or East and it’s such a shame!
I’ve never been to Canada, actually, but I do want to go. Sasketchawan shall then be in my itinerary for when I do. Thank you!
My pleasure – if you ever want any Sask. travel tips – don’t hesitate to message me 🙂
These photos are so amazing! Thanks for sharing this, Ashlyn. This post is inspiring me to figure out how to shoot northern lights with my camera. I really want to learn and get beautiful shots like these!
Thanks Brittany! It’s so much fun to go out and shoot – the trickiest parts are combating the mosquitoes in summer, the cold and snow in winter and the late nights when you have to work in the morning. But it’s all so worth it!
These photos are so breath taking! It was great to have a little virtual tour of my dad’s home province!! No matter how many times I’ve seen the lights, they never get old!
I so agree – they never get old! I could spend all night out watching them if I could. They’re incredibly mesmerizing!
